Comwell Hotels recruits new CCO from Norlys

Extensive experience in sales, marketing and business development

Comwell Hotels has appointed Terese Johannesen as its new commercial director. She brings with her extensive experience in sales, marketing and business development and will be responsible for developing the commercial activities of the Danish family-owned hotel chain.

Terese Johannesen is to become Comwell Hotels’ new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and will also join the group management team. She joins from a role as Vice President of Energy Products & Business Development at Norlys, where she had strategic and commercial responsibility for product and business development across the energy sector for both business and private customers.

She was previously Senior Vice President, Sales & Group Marketing at Scandlines and has held commercial leadership roles at Det Danske Klasselotteri, Codan, TDC and DONG.

Terese Johannesen thus brings extensive experience in growth, transformation, customer experience, marketing and digitalisation to Comwell.

“I am really looking forward to becoming part of Comwell. It is a company with a strong brand, a solid market position and clear ambitions for the future. I am particularly looking forward to building on Comwell’s strong position in the meetings and conferences sector, whilst developing commercial opportunities across the entire business,” says Terese Johannesen.

Comwell’s CEO, Peter Schelde, is also delighted with the appointment:

“Terese brings with her solid commercial experience and a keen understanding of the interplay between sales, marketing and the guest experience. At the same time, she has experience in leading development and delivering results across an organisation. These are skills we will benefit greatly from as we seek to further develop our business, maintain our strong position in the meetings and conferences market, and attract more guests,” says Peter Schelde.

Commercial focus during a period of growth

Comwell is currently undergoing a period of significant development and growth, with both the expansion of existing hotels and the construction of new ones underway. This places demands on commercial efforts and on the interaction between sales, marketing and the hotels – both current and future.

As the new CCO, Terese Johannesen will have overall responsibility for Comwell’s commercial development across sales, marketing, revenue and digital channels. A key task will be to strengthen the collaboration between the commercial functions and the hotels, and to translate Comwell’s strong market position and guest experiences into continued growth.

“I’m motivated by achieving results that make a real difference – both for our customers and on the bottom line. For me, sales, marketing and the customer experience are inextricably linked, and we achieve the best results when we work across departments, dare to challenge conventional thinking and have our people on board. I look forward to getting to know the organisation and, together with my new colleagues, building on the strong foundation that Comwell has already laid,” says Terese Johannesen.

Terese Johannesen holds a Master of Social Sciences (cand.scient.soc.) in social sciences and communication from Aalborg University. She will take up her post as CCO at Comwell Hotels on 1 December 2026.
