Katrinehøj

Katrinehøj – from farm to learning centre

In 1903, the institution purchased the farm Katrinehøj, which at the time comprised 100 tønder land (about 55 hectares). It was a strategic expansion of the area, and the main house was soon put into use as a residence for the assistant physician – an important part of the medical staff.

Later, the farm changed function. In 1935, Katrinehøj was converted into a home for the elderly, housing 35 men – a quiet and dignified place for the oldest residents, who had spent many years within the institution.

As needs changed over time, the farm was repurposed once again. Up until 2011, Katrinehøj served as the administrative building for the day centre of the same name. Today, the building lives on as Læringscenter Brejning (Brejning Learning Centre), where teaching and development are the focus.

Although its functions have shifted over time, Katrinehøj has retained its role as an active and meaningful part of the Keller area – from doctor's residence to learning space.
