A decade of strong strategic direction for HR and ESG at Comwell

“She has an contagious drive”

Today, Comwell Hotels is marking a special day. The Danish-owned hotel chain's HR and Sustainability Director, Mai-Britt Jensen, is celebrating her 10-year anniversary. For the past 10 years, Mai-Britt has defined a crucial direction for both people and the surrounding environment.

Mai-Britt joined Comwell in 2015 as part of the group management team with responsibility for both HR and sustainability. Since then, she has built a well-functioning and professional HR organization, and - with the support of other management and the determined efforts of Comwell's employees - Mai-Britt has laid the foundation for the strong ESG foundation that Comwell stands on today.

People first - and always in development

Mai-Britt's heart beats for the operation and for the people who go to work at Comwell every day to make a difference:

“We must be a place where you don't just have a job. We want to be a workplace where employees want to stay for many years, because there are good career opportunities and also opportunities for development on a personal and professional level. A diverse and inclusive workplace with high job satisfaction,” says Mai-Britt Jensen.

An important success criterion for Mai-Britt is to create the framework for Comwell's employees to succeed, and this has become the driving force behind the extensive training universe that has grown under her leadership. Every year, Comwell sends hundreds of employees at all levels from different disciplines on training courses. This includes management training, Comwell's own Student Academy, soon a new Talent Academy and Comwell's two sustainability-related programs Green Chef and Green Hostmanship.

A more sustainable Comwell - in action and attitude

Alongside developing Comwell's HR field, Mai-Britt is also the main architect behind Comwell's strategic work with ESG. From the journey towards carbon neutrality, food waste reduction and establishing key partnerships to inclusion and responsible leadership, she has helped ensure that sustainability is now an integral part of everyday life across all Comwell hotels and venues.

“Working towards a more sustainable hotel operation is everyone's responsibility. Responsibility starts from within, and we would not succeed with our agenda at all if our talented employees were not part of the journey and took as much responsibility as they do,” says Mai-Britt.

Comwell CEO, Peter Schelde, also gives Mai-Britt a few words of praise:

“Mai-Britt is a pleasure to work with. She has an contagious drive, sees solutions and has a great passion for both people and the surrounding environment. I look forward to seeing what her determined efforts will bring to Comwell in the future.”
