Comwell appoints new director for Comwell Rebild Bakker

Change of management at Comwell Rebild

Comwell Hotels has appointed Ole Olsen as the new general manager of Comwell Rebild Bakker. The appointment is part of a strategic move to strengthen the organisation, whereby management responsibility for the hotels in Rebild and Aalborg is being split to ensure a greater focus on each individual property.

Hotel Manager Mette Bonderup has, for many years, held overall managerial responsibility for both Comwell Rebild Bakker and Comwell Hvide Hus Aalborg.

Under her leadership, both hotels have undergone a significant positive transformation and are now strongly positioned in the market – catering to both corporate clients and private guests.

“This is a development of which we are both proud and grateful. Mette Bonderup has been a key driving force in raising both hotels to the level they have today,” says Peter Schelde, CEO of the Comwell Group.

The positive development spearheaded by Mette Bonderup is also the reason why Comwell has now decided to split the role of CEO to ensure continued growth and development.

“We are doing this to create the best possible conditions for the further development of each individual hotel. It’s all about focus and capitalising on the strong momentum we currently have,” says Peter Schelde.

Going forward, Mette Bonderup will be focusing intently on Comwell Hvide Hus Aalborg, where a new strategy and upcoming renovation projects mark the start of a new phase of development.

“I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved at both Comwell Rebild Bakker and Comwell Hvide Hus Aalborg, together with my talented colleagues. These are strong hotels, each ready to move forward on their own. And now I look forward to dedicating even more time and energy to Comwell Hvide Hus Aalborg and the exciting developments we face,” says Mette Bonderup.

However, she will not be leaving Comwell Rebild Bakker entirely. She will remain on the board, so that her in-depth knowledge of and experience in running the hotel can benefit the new general manager;

“Comwell is, of course, a hotel chain where we collaborate well across the board, both here in North Jutland and throughout the country, so Comwell Rebild Bakker’s future director will have a wealth of talented staff and sparring partners, both at the hotel itself and at the other Comwell hotels,” says Mette Bonderup.

For Comwell Rebild Bakker, the appointment of Ole Olsen means the hotel will have a director who is present on a daily basis and has a dedicated focus.

Comwell Rebild Bakker has undergone extensive renovation in recent years, and in close collaboration with the owner family, a solid foundation for the future has been established.

“Comwell Rebild Bakker is in a very strong position today, and in Ole Olsen we are gaining a leader who can build on that foundation whilst maintaining close ties with both staff and guests in day-to-day operations,” says Peter Schelde, CEO of the Comwell Group.

The new hotel manager most recently held the position of manager at the Fjordgaarden hotel in Ringkøbing. He is looking forward to taking on the role at Rebild Bakker:

“I am very much looking forward to becoming part of Comwell Hotels and to working with the team at Comwell Rebild Bakker. Both the Comwell Group and the hotel in Rebild have a strong identity and a solid foundation, which I look forward to developing further,” says Ole Olsen.

He will take up the position as the new manager of Comwell Rebild Bakker on 1 August 2026.
